Today is the day that The Great Escape festival begins in Brighton, running from 14th-16th May 2015. With it comes a huge array of 400 artists presenting new music to packed crowds in 35 of Brighton’s best venues. Included in the line-up are Live Sessions artists and singer-songwriters Violet Skies and Jerry Williams.
‘Singer/songwriter Violet Skies comes from a small town in South Wales. Her sound balances her love for artists she grew up with such as Joni Mitchell, Sting and Paul Simon, and the soundscapes of James Blake and Massive Attack. 2014 saw her play Glastonbury BBC Introducing Stage, a headline London show, open for Grammy Award winners A Great Big World, and release her EP, ‘Dragons’. Violet’s tracks have been played by Huw Stephens on Radio 1, Jamie Cullum BBC Radio 2 and across a number of other stations, as well as features in Hunger Magazine and NME.’ – GreatEscapeFestival.com/artists/Violet-Skies
‘Jerry Williams is a 19 year old Singer-Songwriter who draws the inspiration for her lyrics from her life growing up in Portsmouth, her relationships with people and of course boys. There is a freshness to Jerry’s narrative story telling that is striking a note with everyone that comes into contact with her music. Jerry has already worked with top artists and songwriters Including Newton Faulkner, Dan Carey (Miles Kane, Nick Mulvey, Sia) and Carey Willets (Athlete). Recently, Jerry supported The Hoosiers, and was lucky enough to play the main stage at Victorious Festival Portsmouth.’ – GreatEscapeFestival.com/artists/Jerry-Williams
