June 4, 2017

Ariana Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun, has confirmed that the One Love event held in memory of the victims of the Manchester terror attack two weeks ago, will still take place this evening. He said that the show will go on “with greater purpose” after the terrorist attack last night in London which left 7 dead and 48 injured.

In an Instagram post this morning he said “After the events last night in London, and those in Manchester just two weeks ago, we feel a sense of responsibility to honor those lost, injured, and affected. We plan to honor them with courage, bravery, and defiance in the face of fear. Today’s One Love Manchester benefit concert will not only continue, but will do so with greater purpose. We must not be afraid, and in tribute to all those affected here and around the world, we will bring our voices together and sing loudly. I am pleased to say we have the full support of Greater Manchester police and the government and are assured the safety of all those attending is the highest priority. All artists involved have been unwavering in their support this morning and are determined to carry on with the show. We ask the strong city of Manchester and the world to join us in making the statement that hatred and fear will never win. Today we stand together. Thank you.”

How Far Will Miley Cyrus Go As The Host of the MTV VMAs?

August 18, 2015

Miley Cyrus has been tapped to host the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30, but after last year’s Robin Thicke “pop culture crime” occurrence, how far will the singer-songwriter go this time around?

The executive producer of the awards, Jesse Ignajatovic, sat down with Billboard to discuss how MTV will deal with censoring or limiting her. “Miley knows how far she can push things and where it would cross the line. [Whether] it’s language or concepts for a pre-tape that go too far, she’s the first to say, “You probably won’t let me do that.” Ignajatovic continued, “To this point, there hasn’t been anything where you’d need to have a finger on a button ready to press it … She just likes to have fun, and I think it’s going to carry through the whole show. And, of course, she will throw in some surprises.”

“I don’t see this as Miley taking the stage and we’re all concerned about what she’s going to say. I think the opposite: I’m excited for what she’ll say and do as host. Miley Cyrus is the epitome of the VMAs.”

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles’  Microsoft Theater at 9/8c with Cyrus and the only announced performer as of now, The Weeknd, on August 30, 2015.
